windows down as the night blows in

Classes finally begin tomorrow. I’m nervous, but I’m more than ready. No one really likes the orientation activities, as far as I can tell. So far we’ve had lots of “inspirational” speakers, an alcohol/safety lecture, a cookout, and a play. I don’t think this has any relation to what college will really be like, and I don’t know to what exactly this is orienting us, except to how much our theater program must suck. I guess some of the speakers were good, but hearing their accomplishments didn’t really cheer me up at all – just highlighted how worthless I am. Most people just text through half the events, or covertly listen to their iPods. I don’t know who plans orientation; they must know that it’s not that engaging. I guess our parents can be happy we’re having intellectual and cultural experiences, but most of the students seem more concerned with all the frat parties each night.

During one of the motivational speeches on Saturday, I spotted Jason across the auditorium. I tried to catch his eye for about ten minutes (well, looking at him was better than listening), but he never looked up from a small leather notebook he was writing in. I tried to accidentally run into him after the speech, but he left before I could get through the crowd.

I could Facebook him, I guess, but a part of me likes the distance, the untouched possibilities. I’m scared that if we actually spend more time together, that vibrancy he had in April might fade, and then I’ll be left with nothing. Paul and I have talked a little, but when I’m doubtful about him, it’s nice to have a dream to fall back on. Even if I know it’s all in my mind. READ MORE: http://charlotte-faulkner.blogspot.com/

Invitation to submit to new variety webzine!
  ladycatherina

03:47pm 01/09/2008
Hi everyone, I invite all the artists in this community, and anyone else you may know, to submit artwork or writing to our new literary/artistic/cultural/nature and travel writing/scientific webzine Synchronized Chaos!

Information on the zine and how to submit, from the Facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=20763137372&ref=mf :

This is all of our new brainchild, an art/cultural/literary/scientific/social commentary/essay webzine tentatively called "Synchronized Chaos" (referring to some kind of not-obviously-apparent logic that emerges spontaneously from randomnity, basically a fun way to have a theme without having a theme.)

Sort of a way to help the aspiring artists we constantly meet to get their names out there and spotlight some excellent work which should have an audience but the artists don't want to go through the publication process. And to give people committed to worthwhile causes a way to speak out or to use their personal experiences to educate others.

Everyone's invited to submit (and everything should be accepted, unless it's obscene or hateful). If you are interested please send a submission via email anytime this summer. We're working towards setting up a regular editing board and designating people to handle certain kinds of submissions, but for now you may use my email, cedeptula@sbcglobal.net

We're online in a rough draft form (all the artwork and writing is posted by our promised deadline but the Word Press blog still needs customization, quotes, links, and pictures to make the site more navigable) at http://www.synchchaos.com and invite you to check it out! Think of it as a building in progress, with the scaffolding still attached but with some interesting posted architectural plans.

We are not a paying market as of yet but hope to become one as we grow and sell advertising and/or host contests. The magazine's online contents will remain free to provide artists and writers with the greatest level of exposure possible.

So far we have received a good variety of submissions, and look forward to more! We're also chaos_zine on LJ and would be a publishing credit for any visual artist or writer to put on his/her bio or proposal or resume.

You may either pitch or send a completed product (attachments OK but prefer writing or thumbnails or JPEG images pasted in the body of the email.) Please put "Synchronized Chaos Submission" in the subject line and please feel free to include an artist statement or bio if you would like.

Also - our magazine is as much about building community and relationships with artists as it is about publication. We'd be happy to see artists and writers post and chat with each other in chaos_zine or on the Facebook page and would be glad to comment/critique or dialogue with you about your work if you would like.

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young. GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at: www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

*While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff, and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the U.S.

Hello everyone, this is a short survey for my college Psychology Project. I just need to collect some data, so anyone who can help I'd greatly appreciate. =D

You can post your answers here, or if you'd be more comfortable feel free to email your responses to me at psych-project@hotmail.com.

The survey is anonymous, so I don't want and will not use any user names, email addresses, etc., I'm only interested in the data.

Just answer A, B, or C. Thanks Alot!

Note: There are no right or wrong answers, this is opinion only.

1. Do you feel that all humans have the capacity for bisexuality?
(A)YES (B)NO (C)NOT SURE

IF YOU ANSWERED (B) OR (C) TO NUMBER 1, SKIP NUMBER 2.

2. If you answered YES to number 1, do you feel that an individuals sexual orientation is dependent on which gender the individual is more attracted to? For example, a woman considers herself heterosexual and dates men because her sexual attraction to men far outweighs her sexual attraction to women.
(A)YES (B)NO (C)NOT SURE

3. Do you feel there is no grey area in human sexuality, that an individual is either purely heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual? For example, if an individual identifies as being heterosexual then he/she is only attracted to the opposite sex.
(A)YES (B)NO (C)NOT SURE

4. Do you consider yourself as homosexual, heterosexual, or bisexual?
(A)HOMOSEXUAL (B)HETEROSEXUAL (C)BI-SEXUAL

5. Are you biologically male or female?
(A)MALE (B)FEMALE

This is a long shot, but maybe someone can help me. I'm taking my first timed writing exam right now, it's a take home exam, and I don't know how many pages are expected in a three hour period. It's an open note sociology exam that I'm only supposed to spend three hours writing. I transferred from a school where exams aren't administered this way, and I just don't know what's expected. Help?

I will be graduating from college this December. I am incredibly excited and I'll be going into the peace corps next year.

My question is, does anyone have any good graduation party ideas? I'm inviting mostly family but also some close friends so "BEER!!1!" isn't really appropriate for this party.

So far, I'm thinking of having a "give sara life advice" box or journal. Also I thought it would be fun to buy some big cheap paper maps and lay them out as tablecloths.

I need any help possible... I am an accounting major and lets just say I don't do well "thinking outside the box".

I have an 8 page dialogue due and I really need any help that is offered.

The topic says "You can satisfy the final journal requirement by writing an 8 page dialogue about Justice. The dialogue should develop a dramatic context like those evident in Plato's work, explore different points of view with respect to Justice, and develop plausible characters. The topics of discussion might include: the distribution of goods and services in society, the role of personal responsibility in determining what a state should give its citizens, the nature and purpose of punishment, and the concept of fairness. Other, related topics are encouraged. This is your opportunity to be creative, but you must also be responsible and focused."

I have a feeling that It will be very childlike if I basically have a 1 way conversation with myself and make different characters. Any imput would rock!! Thank you in advance.

Why do people in the Disb. Department act they way they do in crowds in college.
  viperpilotzgirl

06:49pm 08/03/2005
I just got home from college and today I was talking with Disb. Deapartment dean about 2 of the students from there department with inappropriate behavior around campus.....Mostly in the cafeteria.

Sent the semester started here at Gavilan College theres this 22 year old mental student and her her 18 year old boyfriend(He's in the Disb. department as well). We had a band last Thursday playing and she was on her BF's lab with a super short skirt on and her legs spread wide apart and she doing inappropriate lap dance and his hand s all over her and well. It just kept getting wrose. People walked by telling them get a damn room and knock it off. They where finally kicked out the cafeteria. I that day left a note and my cell phone number with the Dean of the Disb Department and I got call yesterday about meeting with her and me and few people that witness this.

Well, 5 of us went and talked with the dean and she seem not with the girl named "Paulett" Yes! that how she spells the name...Anyhow, The dean wasn't all to happy with what she was hearing about what we had to say. She will be addressing "Paulett" and her boyfriend about it. We told the dean we want be in college not watching a an XXX Rated dance! This girl making people ashame going to this college...It bad for the school!

Mental Disb. should never be rewarded with Food (candies or treats
  viperpilotzgirl

11:57am 19/02/2005
I saw this show on Fox News. This has to do with my last post and the reply to budget cuts from the main college and the mental disb. student department is getting more money to take them on baby feild trips and getting Happy Meals(Another Type of Food Treat, but with a baby toy to boot). I was watching this show and they talking about the mental disb people are not capable of knowing anything past the I.Q of a 3 year old being potty trained and being rewared with food. They talk about how people like this belong more in a adult day care and not in a college. They went on about a college is for learning and teaching...How a college is not a day care. They also talked about budget cut back on classes for people that are trying get there degrees and they loosing out, because colleges are giving and putting out the monet towards the mental disbs that range in ages from 18 to 50 years old and can't even say there ABC's. They asked why take away from the people that are working hard to be somthing and give it to a person that has a I.Q of a Dune Bug! They talked how these mental college students are giving food for award like a dog being trained to do what it's told. This guy stated like a dog if you don't have the food on you...The mental person just like the dog...They will refuse to do what it's told , because you don't have it's food treat...If you caught on to this..You know that these mental disb so called students are ONLY WORKING FOR THE FOOD TREATS ONLY AND NOTHING MORE, THEY JUST WANT GET SWEET CANDIES AND TREATS!!!

If you ever notice they repeat the same thing over and over and they are not really showing how to do anything else. Mental Disb. can be easy trained like trained seal with there food treats and after the mental person is psyically(Showing hands on and each step they giving a treat) showing to do things up to 10 to 15 things they stopped and just tell them do one the throses thing and they are then giving the food award! So in reality they are not learning shit! They just compare a Words and there action to there Food treat...Just like a animal! This is how we train our dogs if you use food awards...I Never use food to traine my dogs...I did once and never agian..Because, If I din't have the food on me that dog would not do what I said for just a prase. Not I strictly train on Praise ONLY...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Food Treats!

My college talks about buget cuts and cutting back on teachers and classes

But, the Disb. Deapartment is using up most the funds. Not just getting speical books, computers, internet and having more 1 to 1 staff for each disb student. But, I just found out they are doing feild trips to the malls, movies, restrunts and amusment parks. I'm not ragging on the disbs. I myself have a learning disb. with spelling, grammer and math. I personally don't use the disb department, Disb tecahers for tutoring(I go to the Math lab)as for the spelling and grammer...I learn by my mistakes. Anyhow, When I was heading home on the public bus...I ran into that mental girl and her group and she got into my face and told me all about the feild trip they are going on and they going McDonalds and the college Disb Department is paying for there day pass($2.75 per a person)for the bus and they had like 24 + 5 teachers of them mental heads and X's that by 2.75... you get...$79.75......!!!then god knows how much at McDonalds...I'm sure over $100.00 and so on! On the bus there was this 34 year old Disb guy and he was making farting noises and the others being tards and making noises and so on. Well, It remined me of my mom's 8 window little yellow bus she drives.Yes! my mom drives a Speical Ed bus. But, still when did my college come a adult day care and when did they start taking them on FEILD TRIPS TO MCDonalds!!!!! They talking about budget cuts..Why not cut the feild trips and teach the disbs...then well taking them out on a baby feild trip...GOD FUCKING DAMN THIS IS COLLEGE...NOT CAMP RETARD!

Mental Disb. Student Proublems
  viperpilotzgirl

01:21pm 13/02/2005
I have this problem at my Community College with a mental disb 20 year old student bugging me all the time. I'm there to learn not be harassed by this silly disb girl. I will also see her on the public bus(I sometimes will take the bus if I don't want drive and use gas for 7 miles to school and plus the bus stop is right in front my apartment and stops right at the college) This girl rides the bus all the time. Well as soon as she gets on the bus or school's lounge or cafe. She starts getting loud with her talking and she talks non-stop and she talks like she's the greatest person in the world.

Thursday when she got on the bus and sat behind a friend and I. I was at the time telling my friend and showing pictures of my show dogs and how I show dogs and win quit offen. Well, this girl butts in tells us she has wall full of Ribbons, Ribbons, Ribbons and more Ribbons and so on. She likes to talk about being famous model or whatever. Anyhow, She claimed to show dogs after she saw my winning pictures from the dog shows. I decided to mess with her, So I played her bull shit game. I asked her what bred and so on....She stated she had a Terrier mix. I finally told her all she says is lies and she should not lie. She said it's was all true..I said she was full of shit. I know the AKC would NEVER allow a mix breed into there shows, AKC is the SPORT OF PUREBRED DOGS! I said it very loud, because I wanted the whole public bus to know it. Everyone on the bus goes to college and they all are tired of her bragging about how great she is. You can easy tell she's a mental head case. Well, when I stated the facts... the others on the bus clapped when I put her lies to truth and she started to cry. Now she's harassing me .. she is calling me a ugly bitch and I'm a lier..Unlike her I have pictures and proof to back up my claims.

I been trying to stay away from this girl, but she keeps comes by me and tells me I'm stupid. I have complained to the dean about this girl's harassment.

I trying to get my A.S degree to trans. to a vet school. I spend my lunch hour doing school work in the lounge and this girl will come and bug me. I even tried to getting up and moving and she follows me and brags how great she is and she's a model. I'm getting pissed off at this girl.
